Widmar (1981): This case involved a public university making
its facilities available to religious groups. A state university
made its facilities generally available for registered student
groups, but refused to allow a student religious group to meet
anywhere on the campus. This refusal was part of a general policy
prohibiting the use of university facilities “for purposes of
religious worship or religious teaching.” Ps, members of a religious
group, brought suit on First Am. grounds. Did the university’s
policy violate Ps’ First Am. rights?
