Trial: right to a fair trial
1. Right to a public trial: guaranteed by 6th and 14th amendments
2. Right to an unbiased judge: due process violation if judge has actual malice against A or financial interest in guilty verdict
3. Right to confront witnesses: 6th amendment; can be denied if  denial serves an important public purpose (e.g., protecting children); A can voluntarily leave courtroom and can be removed if disruptive
4. Burden of proof and sufficiency of evidence: due process requires state to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt; may impose burden on A to prove affirmative defenses
