a. All evidence obtained or derived from exploitation of the illegally obtained evidence is also excluded
b. Exceptions – breaking the causal chain
i. Independent source – obtained from a source independent of the original illegality
ii. Intervening act of free will – act by the defendant
iii. Inevitable discovery – the police would have discovered the evidence whether or not the had acted unconstitutionally
