Statute of Frauds requires that contracts of sale for real property be in writing. No action can be brought
to enforce a contract of sale unless the contract or some memorandum of it is in writing
and is signed by the party to be charged or by that party’s agent. It may apply to a
contract of sale; a contract that will not be closed within one year must also be in writing
and signed to be enforceable.
